Kerrymaid’s Homity Pie
This is comfort food at its best, great for a winter’s day! The key here is correct portion sizes, because the children love it and will keep coming back for more.

Premium Baking Block, Grated Red
Ingredients
- 300g (11oz) Wholemeal Shortcrust Pastry
- 350g (12oz) Potatoes
- 450g (1lb) Onions
- 3tsp Rapeseed Oil
- 25g (1oz) Kerrymaid Premium Baking
- 2 teaspoons Dried Mixed Herbs
- 100g (3.5oz) Kerrymaid Grated Red
- 1 tbsp Milk”
Method
Roll out the pastry and use to line a pastry dish
Preheat the oven to 180°C
Blind bake pastry for 15 minutes, remove beans and cook the pastry for 5 more minutes
Boil or steam potatoes until tender
Chop the onions, then sauté in the oil until soft
Combine the potatoes and onions, add the Kerrymaid Premium Baking Block, mixed herbs, half the Kerrymaid Grated Red, milk and season well to taste
Leave to cool and then use to fill the pastry case
Sprinkle with the remaining Kerrymaid Grated Red
Bake in the oven at 220°C for 20 minutes, until golden
